PFAS

Created around WW2, per or poly fluorochemicals used on products such as food packaging to impart grease/water-resistance or nonstick coating (Teflon)

Commonly referred to as PFAS, PFOS, PFOA, PFC’s etc. There are thousands of different fluorochemicals

PFAS are also used in popcorn bags, shoes, rugs,  rain jackets/fabrics, firefighting foams, etc.

PFAS chemicals pass through wastewater treatment systems, bioaccumulate in humans/animals.

Humans can become exposed if fast food packaging contains PFAS; Hot food triggers the rapid release of PFAS chemicals and they leach into our food and bodies.
